National Ceiling Fan Day


Autumn is here and many of us like to update and refresh areas around our home. Perhaps for you, moving the furniture around to create a new look in the living room, will do; or placing new accent pieces here and there just to bring the season in. But how about really making a change in your space with a custom paint job and to really refresh it, a new ceiling fan!
Sounds unbelievable, well it is real! Hunter Fan Company is celebrating the National Ceiling Fan Day (#NationalCeilingFanDay) on September 18 and are giving away a custom paint job and a new Hunter's Fan. All you have to do is, on their Facebook page, explain what would a room refresh mean to you and include a photo of the room you'd like to be refreshed. In the mean time, I'll be refreshing my own spot in our new house and thinking about the day we can have a porch as "cool" as that one on the picture!

Designer Kelly Edwards' tips for a better Summer


I couldn't be any happier with these personalized tips on how to have a better Summer. I had an opportunity to ask designer and book author +Kelly Edwards , 5 questions about interior decor for this season. She not only answer them, but also made a customized video for my readers!!! How awesome is that!
In this video she talks about the new trend in how to make the indoor and outdoor work together. By adding lightning and plants you can make this space come alive.
Kelly also gives some pointers about pool parties and what are some essentials you should always have around (don't forget that movable bar). Other tips were on Summer hottest colors and patterns (radiant orchid and blues are on her list), her favorite color for a room (think transitional) and what room she'll mostly upgrade and why.
I have to say that all her tips are an excellent source of ideas that will not only work for Summer, but for year around!

New Year's Eve tablescape (Giveaway)


2014 is coming this way pretty soon (just five weeks from now) and I'm just starting to prepare for this upcoming year. Since 2013 was a great one, we should say goodbye in a rather elegant way. And to do so, today I'm sharing with you my New Year's Eve tablescape; but besides sharing it visually, I'm sending this "New Year's Eve Tablescape in a Box" to one lucky reader which I'm going to be selecting randomly.


This year I'm saying "farewell" to 2013 with some sparkly gold accents. For this task I went to HomeGoods to buy most of my table decorations which are going to be part of the "New Year's Eve Tablescape in a Box" giveaway. Gold reminds me of the words abundance and success, and because both are things I'm hoping to accomplish during the New Year, I'm surrounding myself with this color.


Although my table's main color is gold, to keep it balanced I'm adding some browns (in the centerpiece) and natural details with the napkin decorations. As you can see the tablecloth (from HomeGoods)  has some gold accents, but because these are sublime, it can be reuse for other occasions. The napkins, also from HomeGoods, have some gold designs that go just perfect with the tablecloth and the plates. 
These plates (a #HomeGoodsHappy find) are hand decorated glass made from Turkey and the price was just to die for, only $3.99 each! 
And now for the goodies inside my "New Year's Eve Tablescape in a Box":
4 Villa Collection plates 
1 tablecloth
4 napkins
1 centerpiece gold dish (and the accents I placed inside)
4 napkins decorations (made by me)
